Like the SmarterComic The Long Tail, I'll keep this short and sweet. I really enjoyed the format and presentation of The Long Tail that SmarterComics has delivered. I would recommend this for anyone that has heard about The Long Tail and would like a quick introduction but isn't ready to invest the time in reading the full book. It is also good for people who have read The Long Tail but would like a little refresher.

I read in another review somewhere that this is for people who don't like reading. I don't subscribe to that theory. There are just some topics that I don't need to read 300 pages on.

Meh. A two paragraph concept stretched into a book. And it's not exactly earth-shattering stuff.

Essentially, digital retailers with no overhead costs other than hard drive space can make a lot of money selling tons of unpopular stuff, as well as selling popular stuff because there's almost no cost associated with the additional "inventory".

Beautifully written novel which could be a true story. As a Court Appointed Special Advocate who recommends to the court the best home for a juvenile, this book brings the attention to the fact that many times an illegal immigrant has no control over the fate of their child through no fault of their own. Which is better for a child - to be raised in a home where a mother can barely provide for her child or in a two parent, loving, financially solvent environment, that offers every opportunity to a child?

If I had read this book before becoming a mother, I would have found it excellent and sad. But reading it now, as a mother, the experience was entirely different and worth the angst. This author was able to capture the exquisite pain that can come with loving a child more than life itself.

Great novel, characters you can identify with, and a plot that rang true.

Almost from the beginning, I found this book hard to put down. There are two alternate story lines between an infertile Indian couple and an illegal young Mexican immigrant who has a baby shortly after making it to the US. The parts about Soli, the Mexican young woman, were very moving and she seemed like a real person. The story then has their lives connect and you aren't really sure how the novel should end. The characters and situation of these two families, stays with you long after you've finished the novel.
